Frequently asked questions

The questions owners ask before they say yes.

Straight answers about the LexisGrid AI receptionist — the same ones you'd get on a demo call, without having to book one first.

What exactly is an AI receptionist?
An AI receptionist answers your customers' enquiries in natural conversation, across every channel they use, without a person having to be available. LexisGrid understands what is being asked, answers from your real services and prices, checks your live calendar, books the appointment, writes the lead into your CRM, and flags anything that genuinely needs a human. It is not a menu of buttons and it is not voicemail.
Will it make things up or promise something we don't offer?
No, and this is the core of how LexisGrid is built. It only answers from the business profile you give it: your services, prices, hours and policies. If something is not in there, it says it does not have that detail and offers to have you follow up. You can also set explicit guardrails such as “we don't do X” and it will politely decline those requests every time.
What happens when a customer needs a real person?
It hands over. The moment a customer asks for a human, or raises something complex or sensitive, the conversation is flagged to the top of your dashboard as “needs you”, with the full conversation attached so you have all the context. The AI assists; you stay in charge.
Does it sound like a robot?
Judge for yourself on the demo, but no. In text it reads like a warm, professional front-desk person: short, natural replies, no corporate filler. On the phone it speaks in a natural voice, handles interruptions, and checks your calendar mid-call. Most customers simply experience “they answered straight away”.
How long does setup take?
Days, not months. We connect your calendar, CRM and channels for you. Your part is teaching it your business, which takes about twenty minutes on a simple settings page. Then you test it privately before it talks to a single customer.
Which channels does it cover?
Website chat, SMS, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DM, and phone calls — all included in the one plan. Every conversation lands in the same inbox and gets the same follow-through: answered, captured, booked. Update your information once and every channel knows it.
Can it ring my phone first and only answer if I miss the call?
Yes. You choose how calls are handled. The AI can answer everything from the first ring, or your own phone can ring first for as long as you like and the AI only picks up if you don't answer — so you take the calls you're free for and never lose the ones you miss. During a call it can also put someone straight through to you when they ask for a person. It's a setting you can change any time, not a different plan.
Do we have to change our phone number?
No. You can keep the number you already advertise and divert calls to us — either all of them, or only the ones you don't answer. We can give you a new number instead if you'd prefer one. Either way your customers keep ringing the number they know.
Are the bookings real, or just “requests”?
Real. LexisGrid reads your live calendar during the conversation and only offers times that are genuinely free, accounting for how long each service actually takes. When the customer picks a time it is booked and confirmed on your calendar, with a reminder scheduled. Nobody has to call them back to confirm.
Do we have to change our calendar or CRM?
No. LexisGrid connects to the systems you already use rather than replacing them. Bookings appear on the calendar your team already checks and leads land in the pipeline you already manage.
How much does it cost?
There is one plan. The LexisGrid Platform is $399 AUD per month for founding members, reduced from $549. Website chat, Facebook Messenger and Instagram DM are unlimited; 24/7 phone answering and SMS include 300 call minutes and 300 SMS replies a month, then 50c a minute and 10c an SMS, ex GST. Your website is built or rebuilt and hosted too. There is a one-time $299 setup fee and no lock-in contract.
Who can see our data?
Only you and your team. Every business runs completely separately, so your prices, customers and conversations are never mixed with or visible to another business. Full transcripts sit in your own CRM against the customer's record. Details are in our privacy policy.
Can we edit what it says after it goes live?
Yes, any time, yourself. Prices, services, hours, FAQs and guardrails all live on a settings page you control. Change something and the next customer gets the new answer immediately. No developer, no support ticket, no waiting.
What if it gets something wrong?
Every conversation is logged in full, so you can see exactly what was said and correct the underlying profile in seconds. Because LexisGrid only speaks from the information you give it, a wrong answer almost always means the profile needs updating rather than the AI needing retraining.
Does it work outside business hours and on public holidays?
Yes. That is the entire point. LexisGrid answers at 2am, on Sunday, and on Christmas Day, using whatever availability rules you have set for those dates.
Is LexisGrid available across Australia?
Yes. LexisGrid works Australia-wide and handles your local timezone correctly, so “this Saturday” means the right Saturday whether you are in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth.
